		Danske Bank is both a young bank and a bank with proud traditions that celebrated its 125th anniversary in 1996.
		The bank's objective was "to make farmers' spare capital profitable and to supply them, on completely adequate security, with the capital that their enterprises stood in need of".
		The merger, which was approved at the annual general meetings of Danske Bank, RealDanmark and BG Bank late in March 2001, took retroactive effect on January 1 of that year.
