Danzig is an American band which fuses dark lyrics and imagery with Hard rock/heavy metal music.
Glenn Danzig has said that it was always his intention to have a revolving line-up, but it just so happened that the original lineup remained in tact for much longer than he had expected.
Most Danzig fans were disappointed with the album, presumably due to the drastic departure from the sound of the first four releases.

As relations with Danzig's label Def American broke down, so did Danzig's relationship with his band.Glenn found himself seeking fresh personnel and a fresh perspective, creating the darkwave industrial rhythms of Danzig 5: Blackacidevil, a record which, once again, was to re-engineer the cutting edge of hard rock in Danzig's imposing,muscle-strapped image.
Danzig 6 features essentially the same line-up as its predecessor, but there are a number of fresh pioneers associated with the project.
If Danzig 6:66 marks a majestic rebirth of the Danzig sound, this synthesis of the man's evil guitar rock and his selective pillaging of industrial conventions, it is a record that is only the beginning of a remarkable two year plan within the Danzig camp.

Although Danzig's satanic pretensions are too much for some to bear, they are easy to set aside or ignore; the group's undeniable might, its songwriting skill and the phlegmy singer's melodramatic bellow cast a far more potent spell than any comic-book malevolence.

The band broke through into the mainstream in 1993, when a live video for "Mother," a song originally released on Danzig, became an inescapable smash on MTV and even charted as a single, nearly cracking the Billboard Top 40.
The more experimental Danzig 4 was released in 1994 and entered the charts at number 29, but its quiet, moody, atmospheric subtlety didn't find as much favor with the band's new audience as the anthemic "Mother," while some longtime fans dismissed it as mellow and therefore commercial.
