		Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has set aside the death sentence awarded by a trial court to Dara Singh, the prime accused in the sensational triple murder of Australian Christian missionary Graham Staines and his two minor sons Phillips (11) and Timothy (8) in 1999.
		Dara's sentence was commuted to life imprisonment by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sujit Barman Roy and Justice Laxmikant Mohapatra.
		One of the accused Andha Naik alias Aniruddh Dandapat was acquitted by the court.

	2,000 power meters seized from Afghan DPs -DAWN - National; August 19, 2003
		DARA ADAMKHEL, Aug 18: Local authorities have arrested four Afghan scrap dealers on Monday, recovering about 2,000 second- hand power meters from their possession.
		The meters were recovered in a raid conducted by the Khasadar force on the directives of the Kohat DCO in the Frontier Region Dara Adamkhel, some 30 kilometres from Peshawar.
		Officials said that the accused had confessed that these power meters were stolen from the abandoned Nasir Bagh, Badbar and Matani refugee camps near Peshawar.

		MULTAN, Aug 29: An amount of Rs39 million is being allocated to restore the original historical shape of the famous Qasim Bagh fortress, besides cleansing it of the surrounding encroachments and other defacing elements.
		Javed Iqbal said the matter had been put up before Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi for the grant of the state land and for his approval of requisite funds to the tune of Rs39 million for their settlement at Qasim Bela.
		He said the Lohari Gate police station, which at present is situated at the western entrance of the fortress, is being shifted temporarily into the Qasim Bagh stadium.

		KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - U.S. forces and Afghan government troops arrested more than a dozen suspected Taliban fighters and seized a large number of weapons in separate search operations in southern Afghanistan, an official said Wednesday.
		The 14 Taliban suspects were arrested in Dara Bagh area in Zabul province Monday, said Haji Granai, a senior Afghan army official in Kandahar.
		Sixteen AK-47 rifles and five heavy machine-guns were also seized during the operation in the rugged area, located 210 kilometres northeast of Kandahar.
