		The Town of Darien was founded in 1842 from the south part of the Town of Pembroke.
		Darien Center -- A hamlet east of the state park and south of the theme park, located at Route 20 and Route 77.
		Darien Lakes State Park -- The state park is west of Darien Center on Route 20.

	Six Flags Darien Lake - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Six Flags Darien Lake is a Six Flags theme park located between Buffalo and Rochester in Darien, New York, off the New York State Thruway (I-90).
		The Funtime era brought the park numerous improvements, including the Vekoma-built "Fun Wheel" ferris wheel in 1983, which was the showcase of the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee.
		It is uncertain at this time who the buyers might be, although in a radio interview on Buffalo, New York radio station WBEN on June 26, 2006, the park's original owner, Paul Snyder, told the interviewer that he has been in contact with Six Flags and was trying to buy the park.

	The End for Darien Lake?
		I was shocked to read that Six Flags was considering selling Darien Lake considering it is the only major amusement park in the area.
		Also, I almost fell out of the Predator at Darien Lake when I was younger which lead to me not riding coasters for almost 10 years.
		As I've seen remarked in other posts though, the land at Darien Lake is worthless, so I think if DL were to be sold, it would have to be lock, stock and barrel, not a stripped out shell.

		While the rest are mostly smaller parks that are not surprising, and I think Darien Lake is just a misunderstood park, I just can’t even begin to fathom that they would ever think about selling Six Flags Magic Mountain.

		Going to be driving from alpine to darian lake and have not been to the area since the '90 hamilton shows, and would like some advice or a heads up on what to avoid for traffic,(don't want another tinley park '90), where we parked on the highway and missed the first three songs.

		Symphony X who will be on the second stage has Buffalo under their tour dates, so I believe there is a second stage.
		I assumed from the fact that it starts at 7pm that there was no second stage, since Dave M. has stated on the Gigantour forums that some cities with late starting times will not get second stage bands.
		When I was there a few weeks ago, I saw where the 2nd stage will be tentatively, and it will be a pretty small area for the band to play (under a "picnic-type" canopy).
