Dariga Nazarbayeva tops the list of 56 candidates the Asar party is fielding in the Sept. 19 vote, said party spokeswoman Sholpan Zabikh.
Nazarbayeva, 40, the eldest of the president's three daughters, heads the country's most influential media company and leads the Congress of Journalists of Kazakhstan.
He predicted that Nazarbayeva would be elected to parliament in September and would become speaker of parliament's lower house, who under the constitution is second-in-line after the upper house senate speaker to take over if the president resigns.

So in the current elections, the incumbent Nazarbayev ran against a party controlled by his daughter Dariga Nazarbayeva, who is a graduate of a Moscow university, and has worked in charity and media.
Dariga’s party is newly formed from a social movement, and says it includes mostly young people who would like to work for liberal values and a more equitable distribution.
