Dark Horse Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dark Horse Records is a record label which was controlled by George Harrison from his creation of it in 1974 until his death.
Harrison's Dark Horse back catalogue was remastered and reissued in a box-set during 2004.
The inspiration for the Dark Horse logo came from a label on a tin box Harrison saw on one of his many trips to India.

A horse’s most recent and next to most recent Speed Figure can provide a strong indication of its raw speed, (providing the distances are the same) and therefore a strong factor as to whether the horse is fast enough to compete with the other entrants he faces in any given contest.
In most races, where horses have already had 5 or 6 races under their belt and are unlikely to undergo any further dramatic improvement, 20 to 25 percent of the field can be eliminated by use of Speed Ratings alone.
Dark Horse Ratings use a Master Rating based on a horses last three races, so that the effect of just one anomalous performance is negated – to a certain extent.

Dark Horse is an album by George Harrison, released as the follow-up to Living in the Material World in 1974.
Dark Horse is notable for the well-attended, but ultimately infamous North American tour that supported it, which would turn out to be Harrison's only set of performances there as a solo artist.
With a new love interest, Olivia Arias, and with the end of his Apple Records contract in sight, he founded Dark Horse Records - initially to be distributed through AandM Records - and spent much of the year signing acts and guiding their development.

Amazon.com: The Dark Horse Years 1976-1992: Music: George Harrison   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
The 1974 photo of George, amid the leaves of God's nature which he adored, and the stunning Dark Horse logo really are awe-inspiring for Harrison fans and should open the eyes, and ears, of many other music fans who have always been reluctant to give the "Quiet Beatle" his due as a solo act.
The first George harrison album to be produced on Dark Horse was Thirty Three and a Third, which has, like the Beatle's Revolver, multi-meanings: George's age was 33, an LP plays at 33 and 1/3 RPMs.
SO, this is what you get from The Dark Horse Years: George, doing his music, as he wanted to, without any pressure, and when he was pressured, he wrote songs like "Blood From A Clone".

Review: George Harrison - "The Dark Horse Years 1976-1992"
The Dark Horse label was founded by George Harrison in 1974 to allow him time and space to fully express himself as a songwriter and musician.
As it was, “Dark Horse” was an easy mark for critics who often unkindly renamed it “Dark Hoarse”.
The recording of “Thirty Three and 1/3” found George in an upbeat mood and newly in love (with soon to be wife, Olivia).

FAME Review: George Harrison - The Dark Horse Years 1976-1992 (DVD)
Harrison released six albums under his own Dark Horse label from 1976 to 1992: Thirty Three and 1/3, George Harrison, Somewhere in England, Gone Troppo, Cloud Nine, and Live in Japan.
Although many of these albums were not commercially successful, they nonetheless represent the period of Harrison's recording career when he was not bound by previous recording contracts negotiated by others as part of the Beatles.
The 35 minutes of videos from the Dark Horse period upend that stereotype, as some are actually quite funny.
