		Dark Tranquillity, also on their first tour of North America, brought the crowd to feverish heights as years of pent up demand to see the band evaporated in the measured precision of the band's singular and lethal style.
		Dark Tranquillity plowed through material from their last two releases, but managed to play gems like "Sun Fired Blanks," "Punish My Heaven," and "Zodijackyl Light." The highlight for me was "White Noise/Black Silence" which is as close to perfect a song that I've heard in the last year or so.

		I have always preferred the subtle elegance of Dark Tranquillity to the directness of their townmates In Flames, but, if prioritizing the enthusiasm, in 2000 I would probably tend to favor The Haunted's second album "The Haunted Made Me Do It" most.
		Anyway, Dark Tranquillity's enthusiasm that shined in their second album "The Gallery" is not in "Haven," but "Haven" offers instead maturity, more melody, and smoother edges; and it is damn good at displaying Gothenburg class with heavy songs oriented to a live setting.

		Dark Tranquillity has provided listeners with a lengthy release history over the years.
		The recent lyrics are more basic and far less overblown and bombastic, and they circulate around the same themes as any artist concerned with the negative side of things penetrates; despair, desperation, self-loathing, and downright depression.

		Firstly there is "Day Of End"; which may be the biggest shock to those who liked the brutal side of DARK TRANQUILLITY, because the beginning of it is nearly pure Gothic in the DEINE LAKAIEN-vein, very dark and atmospheric with deep, clear vocals, before a guitar comes into the play as well.
		As said at the beginning, some die-hard-fans may have their problems with the "new and improved" DARK TRANQUILLITY, but they still have taken a big step into the right direction for a copy of themselves would have been most disappointing.

		Projector has the most clean vocals of any Dark Tranquillity release.
		Not only the difference of vocals have such a contrast but the feel of songs: as many songs have a relaxed feel, such as "ThereIn" (which has some pretty interesting lyrics I must say) and "Auctioned" than songs with a very aggressive, upbeat feel.
		There is some superb piano loops especially on "Auctioned" and the opener "FreeCard" for a dark, atmospheric effect.
