Chicago house - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chicago house is the earliest style of house music.
House music originated in a Chicago, Illinois nightclub called the Warehouse, which many hold to be the origin of the term "house music".
House music grew out of the post-disco dance club culture of the early 1980s.

 House of Dark Shadows
When its six-year run ground to a halt in 1971, I was not yet born, and “Dark Shadows” has never (at least in my TV market) been one of those shows that succeeds in crossing over into the eternal unlife of syndication— although it certainly would have been most appropriate if it had.
House of Dark Shadows has a particularly severe case of Presumed Familiarity Syndrome— from what I’ve seen, only Transformers: The Movie is more blatant in its disregard for those who might come to it unfamiliar with the televised back-story.
This is all the more puzzling because House of Dark Shadows— in contrast to Transformers: The Movie— does not appear to fit into the TV continuity at any specified point, but seems rather to stand as a sort of edited highlights reel for the first five years of the series.

He had taken to doing this on Saturday mornings, marking the houses that he thought she ought to look at, pressing the pages upon her so insistently that it was impossible to refuse them.
The third house was smaller still and at first glance appeared to have no books in it at all, not even picture books or pocket-sized nursery rhymes in the pink-walled children's bedroom.

With Beyond this Dark House, I was quite conscious of wanting to create a book that would offer insight and illumination for readers of my fiction, but at the same time would stand entirely on its own, for someone who'd never read a page of my novels.
In fact, this is analogous to my aspiration in my historical fantasies: I want the novels to 'work' for those who know the periods I'm drawing upon for inspiration, but also to be engaging and accessible to readers who know nothing at all of the actual historical periods.

So it is that while FULL DARK HOUSE is the first of a projected series of mysteries featuring Arthur Bryant and John May, it deals with their first, and last, case.
While he obviously conducted an incredible amount of research in the writing of this book, that fact does not fully credit Fowler's almost magical ability to transport the reader back in time, to make the passages in the novel read as if they were diary entries written as the bombs fell.
FULL DARK HOUSE is an ambitious and challenging beginning to what will hopefully be a long-running series.

And it will take Arthur Bryant's unorthodox techniques and John May's dogged police work to catch a criminal whose ability to escape detection seems almost supernatural--a murderer who even decades later seems to have claimed the life of one of them...and is ready to claim the other.
Filled with startling twists, unforgettable characters, and a mystery that will keep you guessing, FULL DARK HOUSE is a witty, heartbreaking, and all-too-human thriller about the hunt for an inhuman killer.
