In the News (Thu 24 Dec 09)

The Desert Colossus :: Hyrulian Encyclopedium
A Darknut is a tough, iron clad knight that wields a sword.
The darknut is so heavily armored in the front that you need to attack it in the back or side in order to inflict any damage.
It has been proven in some instances that Darknuts are actually possessed individuals designed to mindlessly guard select areas, as was proven when Link killed a Darknut, and it turned out to be [Nabooru], the [Sage of Spirit], under the armor.

 Darknut - ZCWiki
You can cause a Darknut to "ghost" through you if you use the wand on it while it's walking toward you, while still doing the 2 damage that the wand normally does.
When the Darknut in question is between one full tile and one half tile away from you, (And you don't have to have any magic for this.) use the wand toward him, then the instant it makes contact, turn around 180 degrees.
If you are facing south, and there is a wall directly under you, the darknut should be aligned perpendicularly with you, walking toward you, but not facing the same direction you're facing.

However, for a segmented run, you could probably crank out something extremely impressive, but I don't really think a segmented run of this game is necessary in my book because of how short this game is. The other key ingredient was utilizing the bomb in efficient ways.
Sure, some of my battles could have been quicker (Level 5 Darknuts, Level 8 Gleeok) and I could have gotten that bomb drop in Level 8, but everything else was typical human error in my opinion.
This next room is another room full of Darknuts, but there is some decent cover that allows me to take them out pretty much one at a time.

It is not often you will connect a “strike” onto a Darknut (strikes will be discussed shortly), and odds on; there will be another Darknut nearby to get in your way.
The shield the Darknut carries prevents your sword from hurting them in their face.
Coupled with the Darknut’s seemingly random movement pattern, and the fact there are always at least three of them per room, the Darknut becomes an enemy that forces the player to act defensively and aggressively in order to survive (the aforementioned sword swinging can be shown to be effective here).

Useful against those damn Darknuts and required as a melee weapon against Gleeoks and Patras.
Let a Darknut come to you and attack it facing away as it comes toward you.
Proper timing sends it right through, and since the attack counts as a hit in the back, that means damage for it, not you.

These powerful enemies are much like regular Darknuts with bucklers, but have a LOT of HP, and flowing capes protect their armour straps.
The easiest way to get rid of these protective fashion statements is to blast each Darknut with a Fire Arrow; this doesn't damage them but burns the cape off.
