Since 1966, Darlaston has been part of the Walsall borough and is now in the WS10 postal district which also included neighbouring Wednesbury.
The athlete Mark Lewis-Francis(wanker) was born at Darlaston in 1981.

A full transcript and surname index of the 1851 census for Darlaston parish is included in the 1851 Staffordshire Census Vol 14, Walsall Part I index published by the Birmingham and Midland SGH.
It eventually fell into disuse and was purchased in 1874 by the Roman Catholic Church to serve as the Saint Joseph's RC Church.
Darlaston parish workhouse, built in 1813 at Darlaston Green, was closed when the parish became part of Walsall Union following the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834.

Originally James Bridge station, Darlaston opened in 1837 on the then-Grand Junction Railway some nine years before its merger with the London & Birmingham and Manchester & Birmingham railways to form the LNWR.
Above we see the station close to closure in 1963 (photo: P.J.Shoesmith) with the photographer standing on the Wolverhampton platform looking towards Walsall Road.
