 JOHNNY MERCER (1909-1976)
In the 1960s Henry Mancini proved another valuable songwriting partner for Mercer as the pair earned Academy awards for "Moon River" and "The Days of Wine and Roses." Mancini and Mercer also wrote songs for two other movies, THE GREAT RACE and DARLING LILI.
He collaborated with composer Henry Mancini in 1961 for the hits "Moon River," "The Days of Wine and Roses," as well as others.
Composer Andre Previn became yet another collaborator when Mercer shifted his base of operation to Britain for extended periods in the early 1970s, and the two teamed up for the musical THE GOOD COMPANIONS in 1974.

Medialunchbox - Music : Mudanin Kata
This one-of-a-kind collaboration matches field recordings of the Wulu Bunun's ancient a capella songs with the modern ambient leaning music of cellist David Darling, who took the present-day field recordings and added musical accompaniment to the songs for the first time.
Sometimes Darling structuring the songs, which may only have a single verse, adding instrumental breaks, but on the above song he comes in at the top, finishing off the song in the same circular polyphony with which it was started.
David Darling has done an amazing job of enhancing the traditional songs of the Wulu Bunun with his cello accompaniment.

 Salon.com People Mel Brooks
And if, at age 75, Brooks is the bright new darling of the American theater, it's because he has spent a lifetime brazenly getting in our faces and shamelessly prodding us to laugh, and because, for all the alleged comedy in our must-see TV and Tom Green world, we're starved for real humor.
Like his hit musical "The Producers," Mel Brooks is an unlikely combination of innocent optimism, bawdy irreverence and unbridled chutzpah.
When Reiner one day jokingly asked his pal if it was true he'd been present at the Crucifixion, Brooks took off with the bit and ran with it.

Exclusive Interview - Sarah Silverman for "Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic"
Silverman plays Alex Darling in the film, "who I think in the play is mostly like phone calls, but Mark Cohen the main character sells out to her...she's the Hard Copy producer." One of her first significant Hollywood experiences, Silverman says it "it was really one day, one big scene, and I had a blast.
To prove she's more than just a wild stand up comic, the very unconventional Silverman has a co-starring role in the more conventional film adaptation of Rent, which opens next month, but despite displaying her musical abilities in Jesus is magic, audiences won't hear her singing any of Rents classic songs.
After dropping out of New York University, she graduated to open mic appearances in Manhattan, which led to regular comedy gigs and tours around the country.

Chaz Reviews #8: You Broke My Heart in 17 Places
Tracey Ullman would have three more British chart singles — "Move Over Darling", from the Sixties Doris Day (!) film; "My Guy", a cover of an early ska track by Madness; and "Sunglasses," a little-known tune by John D. Loudermilk — before fading from the musical scene.
Tracey Ullman, woman of a thousand voices and capable of a different look for each one, was never planning a career as a singer.
But then, Tracey Ullman had other irons in the fire, including movies and a return to the stage, and in 1987, her legendary Fox TV series debuted, which kept her busy for the next three years.

 TAKE 10 SYNTHS...
A few years ago, as prices were climbing up to the £2000 mark, the ARP 2600 was in danger of becoming the darling of the synth bore: sought after, bought, rabbited on about, but never actually played.
"With the 2600 you never have to listen to the same sound twice if you don't want to," said Joe Zawinul in an ARP promo leaflet of the day.
With the 2600, Pearlman had his beady eye on the education market, hence the handy completeness of its built-in amplification system and the informative schematics on the front panel.

Using Wendy and Lisas song for "Purple Rain", singing "I'll never beat you" in the song "I Would DIe 4 U" to Apollonia, kissing Wendy on the cheek during "Rain" all indicate a change of heart.
