It's been two years since his departure from Underworld and, far from taking it easy, Darren Emerson has been hard at work, running the success story that is the Subliminal/Underwater night in Ibiza with Eric Morillo and cultivating his own record label, Underwater, the fruits of which can be heard on this double CD.
However, on this compilation, Darren Emerson and Tim Deluxe fuse the two genres seamlessly, effortlessly gliding from deep throbbing analogue techno bass to funky Latin syncopation.

Darren Emerson no longer flaunts the dark DJ heart that made Underworld an international club force, but he has never contributed to anything so effortlessly danceable as Episode 1 's first disc.
Part of that comes from his partner here, Tim Deluxe, whose club-oriented sound encourages Emerson to drop all pretense of depth and let the house beats pound.

Underwater boss Darren Emerson teams up with house duo Mutiny for the label's second mix compilation which is released on June 16th.
Disc 1 is mixed by Emerson himself and is exactly the type of mix we have come to expect from the ex- Underworld man, deep funky house grooves with a techno edge and, although it isn't a patch on his classic Global Underground releases it is still a top-notch mix.
With only 10 tracks in its 67 minutes he obviously isn't bothered about showing off his undoubted deck skills, but the mixing is smooth and lets the, mostly excellent, tunes breath.
