Daren Puppa (born March 23, 1965 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario) is a former professional ice hockey player in the NHL.
In 1995-96, Puppa's stellar goaltending was a major factor in the Lighting earning their first playoff berth in team history.
Chronic back trouble would limit Puppa to only 50 games over the next four years, and he was forced to retire midway through the 1999-2000 season.

Petersburg, which was reconfigured for hockey and renamed "the Thunderdome." The team picked up goaltender Darren Puppa, left-wing goal scorer Petr Klima and aging sniper Denis Savard.
While Puppa's play resulted in a significant improvement in goals allowed, Savard and his glory days in Chicago, were long past, Klima's scoring was offset by his defensive lapses, and the Lightning finished in last place.
Puppa developed back trouble that would limit him to total of 50 games from 1996 until retiring midway in the 1999-2000 season.

Kevin Hodson faced 18 shots and made 16 saves before Puppa came back out to start the third period; he faced 19 shots and made 14 saves in all.
After Puppa came out to start the third period, Andreychuk added his fourth, and Boston's fourth power-play goal, when he tapped in a rebound at the 6:19 mark to make it 6-3.

The Lightning picked up sniper Dino Cicarelli from the Detroit Red Wings that off-season, and he would not disappoint, scoring 35 goals (in addition to 30 from Chris Gratton).
