Dartford continues to develop and there are still indications, in the forms of buildings and street names, of many of the ages in which the town thrived.
The constituency is diverse and extends from the industrial banks of the Thames to the villages of rural Kent.
Dartford is also the home of Electrosonics, a company at the forefront of technology in lighting and audio-visual displays.

Election officers are privately dismayed by the surge in marginal constituencies.
Marginals are constituencies where the incumbent Member of Parliament had a slim majority in the last election and the constituency is therefore, likely to go either way in the forthcoming election.
It used to be that only those who could not possible get to the polling station, and registered to vote of course, such as infirmity or being abroad, would be offered the choice of recording their vote by post, (or mail, as not to confuse our American cousins).

I don't think that it is a good idea to name the constituencies which UKIP may be targeting (or thinking of targeting at the next General Election).
Surely the 1st UKIP MP would be in whichever constituency the candidates from last years national elections scored the highest.
The most likely situation of UKIP obtaining an MP in Parliament is when some sitting MP gets so incensed over a particular issue that he/she crosses the floor in favour of UKIP.

A report in Hazards magazine shows that in just six years the UK has slipped from being number one in the European league table for the proportion of workers who are confident they will be up to their current job when aged 60, to sixth.
Two-thirds of UK call centres fail to protect their workers against hearing damage from noise, a report has warned, with many of the UK’s 900,000 call centre staff at risk.
The call came in the week HSE confirmed that 2 million UK workers report suffering a health problem caused or made worse by their work, over half a million had developed the problem in the last year, and 30 million days of sick leave were the result of work-related ill-health and injuries.
