	London Loop in Bexley
		The London Loop is a route that runs around the edge of the capital.
		Past the pier the Loop heads away from the river again, passing a supermarket on the edge of Erith town centre and then running east through an industrial estate to reach the edge of the built-up area.
		The Loop reaches the corner of the housing estate after crossing the landfill area.

	Erith to Old Bexley - Day 1 - London Loop - Long-Distance Walks with Mark Moxon
		Huge ships chug up the river at this point, and littering the landscape are obvious signs of man's endeavour; the Dartford power station stands erect in the distance, and over the river the mounds of greenery aren't natural hills, but the results of landfill.
		It's only for a moment, but there on the western outskirts of town are some houses that back onto the river, and for just a few yards the river looks loved; boats lap against the banks, tended gardens slope down to little patios, and only the nearby electricity pylon hints at the surrounding industry.
		Luckily the Loop soon ducks off the road and back to the River Cray, where I bumped into a group of elderly walkers who nodded with the friendly recognition of fellow walkers; the full backpack I was heaving round the route in training for Land's End to John o'Groats was a bit of a giveaway.

		The Dartford Loop Line is one of three lines linking London with Dartford in Kent, England.
		It was opened by the South Eastern Railway on 1 September 1866: because there are no major engineering works on the route it took a mere four years to build.
		The line was electrified with the other SECR local routes to Dartford on 6th June 1926 by Southern Railway.

		Dartford Creek is where the river Darent enters the Thames and a bridge at this point would be very useful for any walkers following the Thames downstream, at present to rejoin the Thames requires a diversion of several miles round the Dartford and Crayford Creeks.
		The London Loop makes it was up to the A206 road by the Jolly Farmers pub where after a very short distance the River Cray is re-joined.
		The London Loop path crosses over the railway line via the A2, photo 23, and then descends down again to cross under the A2 on the other side of the railway lines.

		The coming of the railway to Dartford can be traced back to 1833 when a concern known as the ''London and Greenwich Railway'' was established for the building of a 3½ mile line upon viaducts between London Bridge and Greenwich.

		With some clever timetabling and a greater use of the four tracks at rochester to pass slow and fast trains to and from the sole street bank, and using the passenger loops at newington for a similar operation, faster "fasts" can be fitted amongst the "slows".
		As there are no sidings this side of Dartford for some way, it means they all have to reverse back up to London as a new service - effectively meaning 2 trains leave in the same direction up much of the same line within a few minutes of each other.
		Dartford was 25 mins from London Bdge for many years.

	Crayford
		The station opened with the Dartford Loop Line via Sidcup on 1st September 1866.
		All that remained now was the SR footbridge and the SER signal box (looking incongruous with the then new structures), but even the latter soon succumbed, closing on 1st November 1970 when the Dartford Panel took control of the area.
		The structure was subsequently demolished, leaving the footbridge as the oldest part of the station.

		These trails are almost exclusively on sand and hardpack, and extremely hilly, so don’t run out of gas with 6 miles left to go (as my dog always seems to do).
		Also, some of these runs are longer than 15 miles so it might be better for some people to do an out-and-back run rather than a full loop, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.
		Pretty much, my advice is to just find a trailhead (ask me or a veteran) and go for an exploratory run and find the trails yourself; those are the best runs anyway.

	Sidcup
		The Kent Directory for 1858 also lists a grocer, wood dealer, shoemaker, beer retailer, flsmith, tailor and carpenter amongst the shops in Sidcup.
		However, it was the coming of the railway in September 1866 as part of the Dartford Loop Line that dramatically spurred Sidcup’s growth.
		In tandem with housebuilding came the development of local amenities and services.
