Dartmouth is a town in Devon in the south-west of England.
Thomas Newcomen, the inventor of the steam pumping engine was born in Dartmouth in 1663.
The railway terminated at a station called "Kingswear for Dartmouth" (now on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway) and a ferry took passengers accross the river to the station at Dartmouth, which had a dedicated pontoon.

Devon MacIver '05 is a co-founder of UMass Dartmouth's chapter of Kappa Epsilon, which he describes as "a different kind of fraternity that emphasizes the personal worth and character of its members."
Devon and co-founder Matt Jones started Kappa Epsilon in September 2002, working with Chris Laib, the university's liaison to "Greek life" (fraternities and sororities) to follow the procedures for establishing a new student organization.
Devon also serves as a campus tour guide for the Admissions Office, a position he held last year and worked at full-time over the summer.

Devon and I were able to meet only twice, at the Dartmouth Club in New York.
Devon was very self-sufficient as an intern, and did not ask for a great deal of "support", but she seemed to enjoy the chance to discuss her job and her Dartmouth experience with an alum and someone not directly involved in her work environment.
I was able to offer Devon advice based on my own academic and professional background, and to encourage her as she returned to campus life and the consideration of her future.

Parking in most Devon towns can be less than entertaining so we would recommend you take the season ticket parking pass we offer – although this does not guarantee a parking place it does allow you to park in the Dartmouth pay and display all day.

Dartmouth Castle is built on a rocky promontory at the narrowest part of the entrance to the Dart estuary, designed to protect the harbour at Dartmouth from attack by foreign vessels.
Over the following centuries, as the power and range of guns improved, other gun emplacements were added to the castle in positions that allowed them to fire on ships well before they reached the narrow harbour entrance.
By the 19th century, Dartmouth's importance as a harbour had declined and the defences at the castle were reduced, although not entirely abandoned.
