The Dartmouth Skiway opened in 1957 and is now one of two college-owned ski areas in the northeast, along with the Middlebury College's Snow Bowl.
Dartmouth Ski Patrol is a community service organization dedicated to providing first responder care at the Dartmouth Skiway.

The event, which was sponsored by The Dartmouth Club of the Upper Valley, matched mentally challenged participants from the Upper Valley region to snowshoe, cross country skiing and downhill skiing race events.
Despite the enthusiastic support of the Dartmouth and Upper Valley communities, the uncooperative weather and minimal amount of snow at the Skiway had to be countered with a bit of creativity.

Proposed in 1909 by Dartmouth College student Fred Harris to "stimulate interest in out-of-door winter sports", the club soon grew to encompass the College's year-round outdoor recreation and has had a major role in defining Dartmouth College.
The nearby climbing areas most frequented by members of the club are Winslow Cliffs near the Dartmouth Skiway; Rumney, an East Coast sport climbing venue that attracts climbers from as far away as Montreal and Boston; Cannon Cliff in Franconia Notch; and Cathedral and Whitehorse Ledges near North Conway.
By 1956, the Dartmouth Skiway was built at Holt's Ledge, replacing Oak Hill as the primary downhill skiing facility for the College.

i meant to get up to dartmouth this winter, but never was able to pull myself away from cannon.
Though, actually, Cornell and Dartmouth are pretty similar and are pretty friendly - the frozen, icy Ivies.
I went to Dartmouth Skiway for the first time on MLK weekend this year while visiting family in Bradford, VT. The cover was thin on the natural snow trails, but it was a nice day.
