 Dartmouth College History
Dartmouth was made the ninth and final colonial college when it was given a royal charter by King George III in 1769, mostly as a result of the efforts of Eleazar Wheelock, a Puritan minister, and his patron, Royal Governor John Wentworth.
Dartmouth College Alumni Gymnasium, the center of athletic life at Dartmouth, is home of the Dartmouth College Aquatic facilities, basketball courts, squash and racketball courts, indoor track, fencing lanes as well as a rowing training center.
Dartmouth College was among the first institutions of higher education to desegregate fraternity houses in the 1950s, and was involved in the movement to create coeducational Greek houses in the 1970s.

The next time Dartmouth runs out of money to support one of its varsity teams, all they need to do is start renting this studio out to other New England vocal groups.
But The Aires have raised their singing to such a high level that their rap skills suffer a bit in comparison.

 190th Alumni Council Short Summary
The 190 th Meeting of the Dartmouth Alumni Council began with the second annual lobster bake on Thursday evening, hosted by the DAC for the 2005 graduating class.
Kicked off by Council President Karen McKeel Calby ’81, seniors and councilors were entertained by the Dartmouth Aires and The Barbary Coast.
This event is very popular with students and alums alike, and, while the Council sees future opportunities to better use this opportunity to inform graduates about the Council, its role and how graduates might participate, attendees unanimously endorse this event as valuable and worth continuing.

Gone are the days of oDo's name appearing everywhere at once (not that that was a bad thing), though Chris "Dizno" Masone is credited enough to earn some individual praise for his percussion on nearly every track and, more importantly, for recording and mixing the CD (with Zach Supalla and Dr. Sound, respectively).
The album maintains the production quality that the Aires have exhibited on their last two releases, with only a moment or two where it goes overboard (e.g.
I hope to see the Aires re-fix some of their weaknesses on their next outing, but until they make that album, I'm quite content with this offering.

Some of the Aires' soloists are pushing beyond the natural bounds of their voices, with hoarse and hollow results.
I liked it, although my favorite Dartmouth song is the one about Dartmouth graduates having "the granite of New Hampshire in their muscles and their brains".
In general, the Aires are fairly tight, with decent pitch and blend, and execute oDo's rhythmic arrangements well.

You thought the Aires had done it all: hot Hawaiian babes in 2002, the sunny coast of California in 2003, and the posh slopes of the Colorado Rockies in 2004, but the Dartmouth Aires did indeed outdo themselves in this March of 2005.
That night, the Aires' resident chef, Fivo, whipped up quite a feast of meatballs with fresh mozzarella and spaghetti that set the entire crew into a food coma with its amazing taste and quantity.
But it was delicious, and excitement and companionship pervaded the aire as we all sat down to our first meal at a long, old, wooden table in the basement of our palace.

Groups we have sung with in the past year have included the Mass-Transit from NYU, the Tufts Beelzebubs, the Dartmouth Aires, and many more.
Despite some car trouble for three unfortunate Tocks not too far from Dartmouth on Saturday night, we all had a great time singing and partying with both groups.
This CD has really been a labor of love for all those involved, from the Tocks themselves (especially Maia Weinstock '99, who produced it, and Erin Clark '01, who handled the accounting) to our master engineer, Steve Revilak, to the lovely people at DiscMakers, to the people in the SAO, etc. etc.

The Whiffenpoofs, 14 talented young Yale undergraduates, are 2005's version of the oldest collegiate a cappella group in the US, founded in 1909, "Whiffenpoof" being a mythical "Dragon fish" appearing in a Broadway musical called "Little Nemo," based on the brilliant Art Nouveau color comic strip "Little Nemo in Slumberland" by Winsor McCay.
The 18-strong all-male Dartmouth Aires, carrying on a long, proud choral tradition at Hanover, NH's Dartmouth College, bring us a surprising, fun CD.
Surprising because of the groundbreaking experimental vocal percussion, which is almost indistinguishable from actual percussion, surprising for the full, rich sound, and fun because, well, we don't even need to look in the liner notes at the pix of the guys hamming it up to know they're having a good time.
