Ioannis Daskalogiannis (Ioannis Vlachos, Δασκαλογιάννης) (?-June 17 1771) was a (A native or inhabitant of Crete) Cretan rebel against (Thick cushion used as a seat) Ottoman rule in the (additional info and facts about 18th century) 18th century.
Daskalogiannis surrendered with 70 men at the castle of Frangokastello near Hora Sfakion.
Daskalogiannis was immortalised in a celebrated epic ballad by Barba-Pantzelios, a poor cheese-maker from Mouri - To tragoudi tou Daskalogianni of 1786:

Daskalogiannis started planning a revolutionary liberation movement in Crete in 1769 and completed the preparations for the revolution in Sfakia in the spring of 1770.
