The historical data and projections are based upon the information gathered by the IMF country desk economists in the context of their missions and ongoing analysis of the evolving situation in member countries; projections are staff estimates.
Data for inflation are annual percentage change averages for the year, not end-of-period data.
Note that because the data table is formatted as a CSV Text Document, you may be prompted to set the file import options, which will ensure that the data is properly formatted when the file is retrieved into the spreadsheet or imported into the database table.

The World Data Center (WDC) system was created to archive and distribute data collected from the observational programs of the 1957-1958 International Geophysical Year.

Where a WDC maintains a data collection, it must provide proper facilities for data storage and maintenance and ensure that data copies are subject to adequate standards of accuracy, clarity, and durability.
World Data Centers (WDCs) receive data from individual scientists, projects, institutions, local and national data centers, and other WDCs as a result of (1) statements or recommendations of international scientific organizations, (2) data management plans of major international projects, or (3) voluntary data contributions made by agreement with a WDC.
Data are provided upon request from one WDC to another, and the preparation of joint catalogs that list the holdings of all WDCs in a particular discipline is encouraged.
