Menteri Pengajian Tinggi, Datuk Mustapa Mohamed patut menjelaskan sama ada Laporan Pengajian Tinggi Zahid dan 138 saranan bagi memacu revolusi pendidikan adalah satu kegagalan dan pembaziran wang dan masa.
Mustapa telah memberitahu bahawa sebuah jawatankuasa dalam kementeriannya yang sedang merangka sebuah ‘blueprint’ komprehensif mengenai pengajian tinggi, “bagi pembaharuan dalam pengajian tinggi di Malaysia”, yang akan mengeluarkan satu deraf laporan.
Mustapa telah melanggar prinsip ketelusan dengan menyembunyikan daripada Parlimen dan rakyat mengenai keputusan untuk menolak Laporan Zahid dan peranan sebenar jawatankuasa peringkat tinggi yang baru dibentuk lebih tiga bulan lalu – bagi menyediakan ‘blueprint’ kedua untuk pengajian tinggi di bawah kepimpinan Perdana Menteri Abdullah Badawi dalam tempoh kurang dari dua tahun.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said there is need to acknowledge one set of statistics on the actual figure of jobless graduates to avoid confusion and different interpretations on the issue.
According to Mustapa, the different sets of figures on unemployed graduates change from time to time and people tend to give different interpretations based on the numbers released from the different government sources.
Mustapa also stressed that the Federal Government has set up a committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak which demonstrates the seriousness of the government in tackling unemployment among graduates.

KOTA BARU: Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed ais that public institutions of higher learning (IPTAs) will make it compulsory for undergraduates to participate in community brigades, which will be formalised by this year.
Present were Tanah Merah MP Datuk Shaari Hassan, Gual Ipoh assemblyman Datuk Hashim Safin and Bukit Bunga assemblyman Mohd Adhan Kechik.
Mustapa said the compulsory involvement would help undergraduates in character-building and help them keep in touch with the grassroot conditions in the country.
