Dave was also on Rove and had a segment called Idiot Boxing every fortnight where he looked at lame videos that have been filmed.
Dave is a Perth Comedian and he did a series of ads in WA (which he showed in his 2000 stand up show in Melbourne).

 Dave Callan
The show alternated between straight standup and sketches (such as 'The Dave Callan Lookalike Contest, which he lost).
An attempt of audience participation failed when he asked the audience if anyone else had broken their leg (he was on crutches), and a woman who had enthusiastically said yes, then seemed to not want to divulge any other information, and made the whole piece very confusing.
Dave Callan is an extremely likeable person, but it was hard to tell,as this was one of the first shows I saw in Melbourne, whether it was the audience or the comedy, that let the show down.

Melbourne 2003: Dave Callan   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
With his dense, unkempt beard and equally bedraggled hair, he could easily be mistaken a wino whose inadvertently stumbled onto the stage in the hunt for another can of Tenant's - a ferocious look that inevitably provides a sizeable source of material.
Not that you can tell what he looks like at the start of his show, as Callan walks on in the full home-made armour of Australian criminal hero Ned Kelly, to perform a bizarre striptease.
Indeed, bizarre is the theme of the night - thanks in no small part to the miserable punter, scowling grumpily in the front row, his glasses perched idiotically on top of his beanie hat and responding to any attempt at conversation with a snide sneer.

So you want to be funny? There's a name for that - theage.com.au
And this is not an entirely unreasonable hypothesis: Dave is a funny-sounding name: it starts with a D, and almost all the world's funniest things start with D, like dongers, and dyspepsia and Damir Dokic.
And Dave is very easy to say: it's a simple, one-syllable name - a person just wouldn't be as funny if their name was Mordechai or Eyeowulf or Mephistopheles.
And this is a tragedy, because a Dave may not WANT to be a funny person.
