Rankings rankle - 2004-01-26 - Memphis Business Journal
Rhodes routinely appears in lists of the best schools in the U.S., especially for private liberal arts schools, and when Wottle is touring the nation and talking to parents and high school students, he makes sure they are aware of it.
And schools seem to treat the rankings the same as students treat their grades: Those who score well use their ranking as part of their promotion, while those who don't say the rankings just aren't important, or they're simply unfair.
And then in the next breath, he also tells them not to take it too seriously because the methodology of ranking is designed to favor a school like Rhodes.
