Dave Smith began his professional wrestling career at the age of 17, wrestling in England as a Lightweight and using his developing athletic power to assist in various submission-style holds.
Smith was angled as the number one contender to the World Heavyweight title, but pre-existing storylines with Vader and Sting made Smith's presence awkward, and he was never able to become popular with the fans as he was expected to.
Smith's success seemed to be on the rise in the WWF prior to his leaving the promotion, and the abrupt manner in which he left one federation and joined another caused him to be lost in the shuffle of talent between the two promotions.

Being the son of a preacher exposed Dave to music as a young child.
His Grandmother was a piano teacher, and one of Dave's earliest memories was standing next to his Grandfather playing a guitar while playing a mouth harp around his neck.
Dave spent the next few years living in East Texas and playing any gig that would pay him a little money to get by day to day.

DaveĀ… They're two different characters obviously, but Dave is very laid back as a person.
Dave and I grew up in the same area of London and I think we probably met at the local youth club, through a mutual friend called Dave McLaughlin.
Dave Mac drifted out of the band into other things, and Dave Murray and I carried on playing together for a few years until he decided to broaden his horizons and eventually he joined Iron Maiden.
