Dave Spikey (born September 1950 in Bolton) is an English comedian based in Chorley, Lancashire.
Dave Spikey was born David Bramwell and spent his early career working in the haematology laboratory at Bolton General Hospital.
It was during this period in the 1980s that Dave scripted and performed in a number of amateur pantomimes with a group of like-minded health workers called the Bolton Health Performers.

TO refer to Dave Spikey as an overnight success is a bit daft.
Spikey was compere and Kay a competitor; he apparently introduced Kay with the words ‘don’t worry this is the last one.’ Neil Fitzmaurice joined them and the writing team was born, together penning That Peter Kay Thing and both series of Phoenix Nights.
Dave Spikey's The Overnight Success Tour is at the Comedy Store on Sunday 9 and Monday 10 February.

This DVD shows Daves progression from just telling jokes to more observation material and monologues which alhough is restricted mainly to mainstream areas still packs a killer punch.
I had doubts whether Dave was going to be around as a long term star following the decision at the moment not to make the any more Phoenix Nights, but this DVD shows he is here for the long term.
It took Dave a year to come up with the new material on the DVD but the wait is well worth it.
