  Dave Van Kesteren - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
David "Dave" E. Van Kesteren (born October 7, 1955 in Chatham, Ontario) is the new Conservative Member of Parliament in the riding of Chatham-Kent—Essex.
Van Kesteren, who is married and has eight children as well as the proud grand-father of 8 grandchildren, owns a Hyundai car dealership, Van Kesteren Auto Sales, which he founded in 1987.
Previously, Van Kesteren had narrowly lost the 2004 election to Jerry Pickard Liberal Party of Canadaby only 407 votes.

After graduating from high school, Dave began working in the auto business, and in 1985 became the proprietor and operator of his own dealership, Van Kesteren Hyundai, which sells new and used vehicles.
Dave deeply committed to his community and is actively involved in Rotary Sunrise Program, as well as President of Christian Business Association for Chatham Kent Essex.

 Federal Government Announces Emergency Dredging of Commercial Fishing Harbour at Wheatley
WHEATLEY, ONTARIO Dave Van Kesteren, Member of Parliament for the constituency of Chatham-Kent-Essex, on behalf of the Honourable Loyola Hearn, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, today announced $40,000 to complete emergency maintenance dredging at Wheatley commercial fishing harbour.
Clearing of the channel started on Wednesday of this week and the work is expected to continue over the next several weeks.
Dave Van Kesteren, MP for Chatham-Kent-Essex, is pleased with the quick response of Fisheries and Oceans Canada to the weekend storm.

Rural South-Western Ontario has done well for the Liberal Party of Canada but the favour wasn't returned especially with the anti-tobacco action, Dave Van Kesteren of the Conservatives will be going to Ottawa, not Grit Jerry Pickard, a long-time backbencher who wasn't done much for the area.
When Van Kesteren makes the comment Let's make a deal next, it will be in the backrooms of the Tory braintrust, not on his used-car lot but let's hope all deals are honest.
At other times this riding would be a relatively safe one, but if Van Kesteren's team can turn this into a local issue it could be a Tory pickup.

As mentioned a while back, there are a variety of places where it would be useful to be able to describe the structure of a URI, rather than just convey a URI itself.
I took a stab at this in the Link Header draft, and have also been working in the background with DeWitt Clinton, Joe Gregorio, Marc Hadley, Dave Orchard, and James Snell on a more general specification, URI Templates, the first draft of which we (finally!) got published today.

If only there could be a pop-up window with the picture of and contact information for the Web developer next to a heading like "Lazy, Sloppy Web Developer"--then we might see things get cleaned up very quickly (unless the developers are no longer in charge of those pages, of course).
I have to disagree with you, though, Dave, about it being important for developers to know that they can count on rendering behavior not changing.
I think Anne van Kesteren's method is the best way to go forward.

Pickard is rumoured to be furious with Campaign Life Coalition for reporting on his recent anti-life record in a report card that CLC sent to his constituents last month.
One of his former Liberal colleagues from the House of Commons, Rex Crawford (MP for Kent from 1988-1997), has endorsed his Conservative opponent Dave Van Kesteren.
Crawford, who had a strong pro-life record in Parliament, represented the Chatham area, which Pickard needs to win in order to be re-elected.

I will admit that there is a lack of the well written XHTML for beginners books out there though.
