David Dodge is doing an excellent job of stimulating a broader discussion on how global imbalances need to be addressed.
While Dodge suggests that addressing the U.S. imbalance " implies an increase in net U.S. exports and a decrease in net exports elsewhere in the world, as well as an increase in domestic demand in other countries", such a course of action (in part) implies slower global growth on the part of other exporter nations.
