  Filmtracks: David Arnold
When Arnold was set to return to the big screen, his partnership with Devlin and Emmerich came to an uncertain and sudden end when his demo for their newest film, The Patriot was rejected (the assignment was then given to John Williams).
Arnold's score was the most experimental electronic score in the series to date, and alienated many of his listeners who were more in tune with the "Barryesque" approach to the franchise.
Arnold was displeased with the Madonna title song for the project, which had not been under his control, and the soundtrack as a whole was met with critical and popular displeasure, especially in the U.K., where Arnold continues to work.

Arnold is the second cousin of Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice.
He is not related to British composer Sir Malcolm Arnold and should not be confused with David Arnold, a former player and current conductor for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra who is also involved in writing, arranging and producing music for radio, television and films.

Arnold's grandiose score for Stargate drew both positive and negative critical attention, in part because of Arnold's attention to traditional methods and styles of motion picture scoring.
Arnold went on to score The Last of the Dogmen in a more sedate manner, following that with a score for Cutthroat Island that ended up, like much else with that film, being thrown out.

The Musketeer (Soundtrack) by David Arnold
Arnold returns to his big, bad, and braggadocios style of composing not effectively used by the composer since his score to Independence Day.
Arnold's main theme is certainly his boldest in some time and manages to stay just this side of the "corn"-o-copia that Independence Day ran head-first into.
Surely, the discredit done to Dumas' original story is unforgivable, but David Arnold's score is not party to the crime and remains, for the most part, a pleasurable listen.

James Bond 007 - David Arnold - Sojourner of a Bond Score
Barring Barry returning himself, David Arnold was commissioned to bring Bond into the 90s but yet to not lose sight of the Barry legacy; a feat that Arnold achieved with great success for the rousing music to 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies.
Arnold returned for The World Is Not Enough in 1999 (the first time someone other than John Barry has scored more than one Bond film) which built on the score to Tomorrow Never Dies but which was ultimately not as memorable.
Arnold does tease us with hints of the theme and faux Bondian themes but it’s not until the very end of the score that we get a robust yet conservative reading of the James Bond Theme in all its glory.
