David French Boyd, commonly referred to as one of the founders of Louisiana State University, and his younger brother, Thomas Duckett Boyd, devoted much of their lives to LSU to make it the great university it is now.
David soon re-entered the Confederate service and in December 1864, he became major and adjutant general in Brent's cavalry brigade, which guarded Kirby-Smith's front from Arkansas to the Gulf of Mexico during the last stages of the war.
David Boyd hall houses the Graduate School and the Office of Research and Graduate Studies while Thomas Boyd hall houses the Chancellor's office, Undergraduate Admissions, Records and Registration, and the Treasurer's office.

Boyd's impact on the profession obviously extended beyond Philadelphia, but perhaps his most controversial exchange occurred in the meetings, lectures and publications which led to the City of New York adopting a zoning ordinance to govern the height and massing of the new skyscrapers which were being developed.

Boyd concerning the settlement of her estate (1869) and from her grand daughter, Sally Stafford, on the triple wedding of Ada Cheney, Julia Smith and Rosa Pearce (Mar. 8, 1879).
In another letter (Sept. 20, 1901) L.S. Boyd outlines the history of the case to attorneys, Walton and Hill, in Texas, and suggests the Hadley Robert's ownership of the land was illegal.
