David Carradine (born John Arthur Carradine on December 8, 1936 in Hollywood, California) is an American actor.
Carradine is also known for producing and starring in several exercise videos teaching the martial arts of Tai chi and Qi Gong exercises.
David Carradine appears in the very last episode of The Matthew Barnard Show entitled Kill Barnard, where the lead character (Matthew Barnard) was killed off.

David Carradine wrote in his autobiography Endless Highway, "I know the exact time because the doctor had a bet with the interns (a case of beer) that the baby would be born before noon.
David was not born David Carradine, nor would he be known by that name for many years to come, but was born John Author Carradine; named after his father (who chose his screen name after a man he respected) and a man John Carradine respected.
David was unaware of this until a family trip around the age of five.

The same year, Carradine landed the starring role in the television series, Kung Fu (1972 to 1975), and received an Emmy nomination as well as a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Kwai Chang Caine, a soft-spoken Shaolin monk traveling on foot through the American west in the 1800s.
Carradine returned to television playing a descendant of his original character (but bearing the same name) in the modern day television series Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1992 to 1997).

In his book "The Spirit of Shaolin" David Carradine said that this was the "yin" (hard) of the two videos (the Tai Chi being the "yang" or "soft") and that it is challenging and even vigorous.
