  David Chaytor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
David Michael Chaytor (August 3, 1949, Bury) is a politician in the United Kingdom.
He is Labour member of Parliament for Bury North, having first won the seat at the 1997 general election.
Despite being educated under the Direct Grant system at Bury Grammar School, Chaytor is Chairman of Comprehensive Future, an organisation set up to end selection in British schools.

David Chaytor, MP for Bury North, took 43 per cent of the votes to defend the seat, with Conservative David Nuttall in second place, 2,926 votes behind.
After the result was declared, Mr Chaytor said: "I did get a lower share of the vote, but turnout was down and we lost voters to the BNP and to the Lib Dems.
Conservative candidate David Nuttall, who had hoped to swing a majority of 14.6 per cent to take Bury North, said that he was "disappointed" with the result.

The Bury MP David Chaytor joined the Lord Mayors of Bury and Rochdale to perform the official opening of Viridor Waste Management’s Pilsworth Power Plant Extension in Heapbridge.
The latest additions to the plant of a further four engines generating 4.2 megawatts (MW) of electricity mean that site now generates 7 MW of renewable electricity.
David Chaytor, MP said: "One of the biggest challenges facing the UK over the next 10 - 20 years will be energy, as fossil fuels reach their production peak and then decline.

Disillusioned with the paucity of information made available to the public during the second consultation into BNFL's application to commission the Sellafield MOX Plant (SMP), CND decided to send a delegation to the Department of the Environment to ask the Secretary of State to 'call-in' the application and consider the case for a public enquiry.
The second eight week period of consultation closes on 16th March but CND believes that it is imperative that attention is drawn to this issue in advance of closure.
