Earl of Airlie is a title in the Peerage of Scotland that was created on 2 April 1639 for James Ogilvy, 7th Lord Ogilvy, along with the title Lord Ogilvy of Alith and Lintrathen.
The latter's son, David Stanley William Drummond Ogilvy, the 8th earl (1856-1900), served in Egypt in 1882 and 1885, and was killed on the nth of June 1900 during the Boer War while at the head of his regiment, the 12th Lancers.
Lady Blanche Ogilvy, daughter of the 10th Earl of Airlie, was the mother of Clementine Churchill, the wife of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
