Gilmour is especially renowned for a very precise, "bendy" kind of soloing, as well as various "violin-type" sounds.
In interviews, Gilmour has explained that what he sees as his lack of technique led him to concentrate on melody over virtuosity, and the enduring appeal of his solos is that that they are usually expressive tunes rather than technical exercises.
David Gilmour was ranked the 82nd greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

In fact it is the Andalusia influence that permeates most of their early albums, underlining guitarist Shacklock's obsession with flamenco guitar and setting them apart from the majority of the 70's rock outfits.
By the release of the third album, simply titled "Babe Ruth", Shacklock was tiring of continually being on the road and left the band.
I've played tracks from their previous 2 albums "Brother to the snake" and "Dharmakaya" on the show and was so impressed that I contacted the band who have sent me an advance copy of the new album.

 David Gilmour: Album packaging
David Gilmour has always been a very tasteful and melodic guitarist and his music has been a pleasure to listen to since I was a young musician of 12.
David, a couple of years ago you said that you were too old to tour.
It is hard to define a Pink Floyd album, but the one sure thing you are guaranteed is a sniff of some far off world beyond our own, and that the music speaks in some timeless way that leaves us thinking these Pink Floyd boys, know something we don't.

 David Gilmour: Album artwork
I know David's pretty good in his own right and I'm not complaining, but I was expecting him to use Guy more so he could concentrate more on the other instruments.
Anyway the album looks like it's laid out in a familiar fashion: starting with an instumental, followed by something that rocks, some interesting new stuff in the middle, second to last song looks like it has masterpiece potential, ending with a slow but masterful instrumental.

The fact that David Gilmour's microphone stand comes from where Roger is located signifies that many of the songs that David still sings originated from the mind of Roger Waters.
