 YAM October 1993 - John Hersey Tribute
The result was the establishment of an annual John Hersey Lecture, the first of which was delivered March 22 by David McCullough '55, author, most recently, of the best-selling biography of Harry Truman.
Hersey was subsequently honored with a memorial service in Battell Chapel on the Yale campus, and a burial service on Martha's Vineyard.
Hersey went on to a long career as a highly respected author, his novels appearing year by year with a regularity indicative of his immense self-discipline and his capacity -- demonstrated as an undergraduate -- for plain hard work.

Hersey’s next book, Hiroshima, first published as an entire issue of The New Yorker in 1946, began to open numerous American’s mind to the awareness of what type of full devastation war means in the nuclear age.

 Les Mis - The Lighting Design
Let me just say first and foremost that I did not spend a lot of mental energy thinking "How did they do this on Broadway?" Roadside Theatre is not Broadway, and I am not David Hersey (the original lighting designer).
So, while I have seen Les Misérables in London and touring productions in the United States, this is how we at the Roadside Theatre in Heidelberg, Germany did the show.
