David Karwacki has been an active member of the Saskatchewan community, serving as the President of the Huskie Basketball Alumni Association ; acting as the founding board member of the University of Saskatchewan Athletic Endowment Fund; and participating as an active member of the St. Anne's faith community.

Karwacki said he and his family made the decision to stay in Saskatchewan years ago and have never regretted it.
Karwacki said the negative factors are such things as a low tax base with the current government continuing to make local residents more and more dependent on them.
In response to another question, Karwacki said the visibility factor for a third party such as the Liberals, is always a problem, but once a campaign began, the media would pick up on the messages the party was willing to deliver.

Karwacki is president of the Georgia Professional Crabbers Association, a group made up of at least half of the 150 licensed crabbers on the Georgia coast.
Karwacki, who puts out 200 traps, the maximum allowed by the state, said there is another reality crabbers must accept.
Karwacki said a recent proposal by the Coastal Resources Division of the state Department of Natural Resources to limit crabbing to only four days a week was unnecessary.

While some of his fellow commercial crabbers have thrown in the towel and sought other means of employment, Karwacki said he has been fortunate to have been able to adjust to a changing market in order to stay afloat.
Those profits are contingent on his ability to take peeler crabs, or crabs in the process of losing their shell, back to the peeler facility at his home where he waits for them to lose their shells before sending them up north.

Currently the Sask. Liberals have no seats in the Legislature, and Karwacki finished in a strong second place, ahead of the NDP candidate in the Weyburn-Big Muddy byelection last year.
The finish ahead of the NDP I think indicated both how unlikely NDP victories will be in the next election, and how the Sask. Liberals stand to win back seats, both in urban or rural ridings.
I’ve been in a cowboy-type bar with Karwacki before, and I just don’t see him as the bar brawlin’ kind of guy.
