Angels and Airwaves (also known as AVA) is an alternative/rock supergroup created by blink-182 guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge alongside former Hazen Street and Box Car Racer guitarist David Kennedy, ex-Distillers bassist Ryan Sinn and Offspring drummer Atom Willard.
According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, DeLonge trademarked the name "Angels and Airwaves" on June 24, 2005 amidst the lingering confusion of blink-182's abruptly announced "indefinite hiatus".
DeLonge quickly recruited friends and fellow musicians David Kennedy, Ryan Sinn and Atom Willard to round out the band's roster.

Kennedy sets his cup down on the table alongside an ornate teapot before settling back into the bar's expansive couch.
And though he likes DeLonge's adolescent antics as much as the next guy, Kennedy feels invigorated by his new role in A and A. Laughing as he recounts how DeLonge will still veer off into "some funny directions sometimes," the guitarist says the group's message is the perfect antidote for apathy.

Tom DeLonge, frontman and guitarist for So-Cal punk band blink-182, is known as much for his potty mouth and wild stage antics as his music.
There's a certain quirkiness to the new Tom DeLonge Signature model as well, but mostly DeLonge wanted the classic look of an old American rock and roll guitar and he chose Gibson to do his signature model.
DeLonge has a hard core side project, Box Car Racer along with fellow blink-182 comrade, drummer Travis Barker, David Kennedy on rhythm guitar and Anthony Celestino on bass.

Borne out of an original collaboration between Morse and Kennedy and named for the address of the N.Y.C. prison in which ex-Madball vocalist Cricien did a stint, the band mixed hard-hitting contemporary hardcore with metal, rap-rock, and pop overtones.
Hazen Street signed with Benji and Joel Madden's Epic-distributed DC Flag imprint in 2003 and set to work on their debut with producer Howard Benson.
Guitarist Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory also performed on the record, but commitments to NFG kept him from touring in support with Hazen Street.

I'd like to give you a real quick history of our band...Jeff the drummer, he moved here in 1982 from Wisconsin and was in a band called the Razorbacks and they were very successful...
and David (Kennedy's bass player) played in Woodstock when he was nineteen and used to play with all those guys from Steely Dan and grew up with all those guys.
To catch the overall...well the cinch of the whole thing - is to peak out with David Linely and Wally Ingram and then the Holy Moly Rattlers will be here from the East Coast - David (Kennedy's guitarist) plays with them, and the Freaked Out Ramblers which are probably the best band of the bunch.

Cutting much of the pop from their usual sound and showing diverse influences like the Replacements and D.R.I., the band used it as a showcase for the material they wrote that wasn't Blink-friendly.
