Morrill laid out for Hall that Pak had been incarcerated for eight years after committing rape at 17, when he was a senior at El Modena High and, after nearly a decade away from basketball, had resumed his life and career at Saddleback College.
Morrill told Hall that Pak had looked him in the eye and was honest about his past, and then the two administrators were honest with themselves about bringing an athlete with a criminal background to Logan, a community where one-fifth of its population (49,000) packs Dee Glen Smith Spectrum to watch Utah State basketball.
Morrill said the decision was left to him because of the trust he had earned with the community and administration in his seven-year tenure.

Major Morrill was the pilot of one of two Marine Corps F4B Phantoms of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron VMFA314, which left Chu Lai, South Vietnam on a close air support mission of Marine Corps ground troops in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.
On 8-21-67, Captain Morrill was the pilot of one of four Air Force F105s, which left Tekhli Royal Thai Base to strike the Yen Vien rail yard six miles northeast of Hanoi.
David W. Morrill and Maxim C. Parker, both USMC, were jointly recovered in South Vietnam June 9, 1993.

David Lawrence Morril (June 10, 1772–January 28, 1849) graduated from Dartmouth College and later received his law degree from the University of Vermont.
He was an American physician and clergyman who lived for a time in Goffstown, New Hampshire.
He served as a U.S. Senator for New Hampshire from 1817 to 1823, and Governor of New Hampshire from 1824 to 1827.
