  Society of Lloyd's v. Henderson
Thirdly, in an action against Lloyd’s brought by three Names asserting a claim for misfeasance in public office, the claimants sought to amend their points of claim, having regard to a judgment in a separate action which held that members of a syndicate were the victims of fraudulent trading.
Lloyd’s has cited a number of decisions in which the courts have consistently held that Lloyd’s is not a public body, and therefore is not subject to judicial review, including the decision of the Court of Appeal in R v Lloyd’s of London ex p.
Lloyd’s second argument is that the second form of the tort of misfeasance in public office assumes there to be an unlawful act (or omission) by the public officer.

CD Baby: DAVID JOHNSTON: David Johnston
David Johnston's determination to keep the music going was an important element in helping him deal with the loss of his friend.
Cambridge, Massachusetts busker extraordinaire David Johnston has taken a break from the streets and subways to record his debut album; rife with genuine soul and grit and grizzle, this self-titled disc was many years in the making but well worth the wait.
Johnston is a natural fit in this tiny, brick-walled, bare-beamed pub room, with his dusky, intimate singing voice and subtly complex songwriting (an intuitive blend of roots, psychedelia and pop).

Lloyd, however, wished to separate and expand his office, often arguing that to serve as a councilor would be inconsistent with his role as president, where he represented the governor.
Lloyd's fear was well-founded; for example, Blackwell used Penn's order as part of his rationale for insisting that a 1685 law granting power to the governor and Council to appoint provincial justices should be replaced by an earlier law vesting that right only in the governor.
Lloyd was hurt that Penn had not replied to his letters, and was dismayed that the proprietor was sympathetic to George Keith and to the political faction in Pennsylvania opposed to the dominant Quakers.

Youth Drug Use Declines, But Alcohol, Future Trends are Concerns
Johnston said just such a spike in drug use occurred after the first Gulf War, when national attention was diverted away from youth drug use.
David Rosenbloom, director of Join Together, called the data on illicit drug use and tobacco "very good news." But he said that the prevalence of alcohol as the nation's top drug of abuse among adolescents continues to be a cause for concern.
MTF's Johnston said that a media campaign on youth alcohol use similar to that currently targeting marijuana use would be valuable, noting that the anti-drunk driving campaigns waged by MADD and the Ad Council during the 1980s had a big impact on youth drinking and attitudes regarding alcohol use.

The sexy and cut Lloyd got his start in teen pop singing with N-Toon, a group the singer was never really "down with." N-Toon was put together by former Klymaxx member Joyce Irby, whose name shows up again here, right next to The Inc's main man/Godfather, Irv Gotti.
Gotti sent Lloyd to the gym before the recording studio, the press releases have hailed him as singer who adds a hip-hop attitude to R&B, and his interview with Teen People hit before his debut album.
Say what you want about the always-controversial Gotti, but he never gives Lloyd anything lyrically out of his reach, and music-wise he's sprinkled a bunch of clever samples over the down-low beats.

Maybe it was the rural seclusion that contributed to the fact that the abbey was hardly heaving with patrons for the flagship inaugural concert on Friday, given by the BBC Concert Orchestra under David Lloyd-Jones.
The modest attendance was a pity, because a great deal of passion had gone in to planning this event, and the programming was out of the ordinary.
Darkly rhapsodic, brooding and bitter, the music is intensely reflective, and Lloyd Webber's performance encompassed a range of affecting emotion that was deeply poignant.

This is the long-awaited book by David Cay Johnston (DCJ), who won the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 for his beat reporting on tax issues.

Among those “hurt” by changes in the tax system are those whose incomes rise as high at $500,000 a year – for even this wealthy group has gotten the shaft in favor of the super-super rich.
