	David Mann (painter) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		David Mann (September 10, 1940 – September 11, 2004) was an American artist famous for his paintings of motorcycles and biker culture.
		His art was reproduced as the magazine’s center spread beginning in 1973 and continued to be the publication's centerpiece until he was forced to retire in 2003 due to his failing heath.
		Mann's health began a slow decline in the early 2000's and by 2003 had deteriorated to the point where he could no longer work.

		The great Mann himself was able to attend briefly and thank the crowd for their help (despite a collapsed lung he suffered from a fall a couple of days prior to the event).
		Personally the biggest effect David Mann's artwork had on me was that I usually wanted to be the person in his art (unless he was about to hit the back of a Volkswagen).

		In the past few years, David's health began to fail and he was no longer able to enjoy jumping on the 1957 Panhead Chopper that won him acclaim in a Kansas City Bike Show back in 1963 for being the first "Chopper" that had ever been seen in that part of the country.

		David Gill of Virginia, of Halifax and Wake Counties, NC, married a ___ Mann from King William Co., VA.
		It is believed that David Gill married a daughter of John and Elizabeth Mann of Wake County, but her first name is unknown.
		From my Mann research there appears to be a different Mann line in that part of Va. I have not seen a relationship between them and the Arnold and John Mann associated with David Gill of Mattapony.
