DAVID M. CLOUGH, the thirteenth governor of Minnesota, was born in Lyme, New Hampshire on December 27, 1846.
Clough was a member of the Minnesota State Senate from 1887 to 1891, and served as the lieutenant governor of Minnesota from 1892 to 1895.
Governor David M. Clough passed away on August 28, 1924, and was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Everett, Washington.

Clough's first administration was notable for the ratification of significant amendments to the state constitution, including those establishing a Board of Pardons, withdrawing the right of aliens to vote, and authorizing municipalities to frame "home rule" charters.

Clough's son-in-law, Roland H. Hartley, later to be mayor of Everett and governor of Washington, worked in consort with his father-in-law, investing in Clough's mills and especially his logging companies.
Clough formed the Clough-Whitney Company and, with his soon to be famous son-in-law, the Clough-Hartley Company.
Clough's position at Clark-Nickerson passed to his nephew, H. Clough, director of operations at other mills in British Columbia, Stanwood, Everett and on Hood's Canal.

Sadly, we lost several of our older and most committed volunteers this year, among them Charlie Marston, Ted Parkhurst, David Eberly, and Bob Nelson.
Thanks also to the entire volunteer Fire Department, led by Peter Stanley and Jay Lyon, who, with the assistance of their crew and many town donations, brought that project well under budget.
