 XML.com: When XML Gets Ugly
Megginson compared the XML Web today to the Internet in 1988, when a general lack of concern about security—the naivete of a small and friendly community—made it possible for the "Internet Worm" to shut down the Internet quickly, in the most effective denial of service attack to date.
Megginson noted that these were not particularly innovative attacks: "Compared to the way people break into computers today, this is brain-dead simple." Although he had some workarounds and solutions for keeping these crackers out, Megginson acknowledged that XML's openness might make using some of these more difficult.
Megginson's preferred solution, digital signatures, is the "simplest but scariest" and requires a good deal more development to make effective.

From David's blurb about his presentation: "Corel will be supporting XMLNews out-of-the-box in WP 9.0 (including both the DTD and a stylesheet template), and WavePhore is already distributing over 30 news feeds live in XMLNews format, including the Associated Press Online, United Press International, The Canadian Press, InfoLatina, and many others."

So, what you > might represent in LISP as > > ('person ('name "David Megginson") ('citizenship "Canadian")) > > you can represent in XML as > > > David Megginson > Canadian > > I believe that python maps dictionaries to XML.
The above would be something like: Someone = {'person': {'name': 'David Megginson', 'citizenship': 'Canadian'} } print Someone['person']['name'] would yield 'David Megginson' Since python has a nice mapping between class membership and dictionaries, it may be cleaner than that.
So, what you might represent in LISP as ('person ('name "David Megginson") ('citizenship "Canadian")) you can represent in XML as < <David Megginson< <Canadian< < I believe tha0365,0365,0365t python maps dictionaries to XML.
