Neitz stars as Dees' leading man - realfooty.com.au
There has been more than a bit of the Bruce Banner about David Neitz during the five-match collapse that sent the Demons tumbling to the bottom of the ladder: mild mannered AFL captain by morning, unleashing repressed feelings, Hulk-style, between the hours of two and 5pm.
Back in town, physically, after a Port Douglas break he spent "snorkelling around, tanning up and just turning off a little bit", Neitz conceded last night he had spent a few minutes before yesterday's seven-goal game contemplating the events of the past 10 days, and wondering how he had found himself where he was.
And even luckier he had a multitude of hard-running teammates desperate to get the ball to him, because if there was one thing more important for Melbourne than the stand of its skipper, it was the incredibly even way in which the team shared the load.

MELBOURNE skipper David Neitz will be given until the last minute to prove he is fit to face Geelong at the MCG today in the first cut-throat elimination final.
Neitz has kicked only one goal in three games since injuring his knee, but invariably draws the opposition's best defender and leaves the stage clear for the likes of Russell Robertson, Ben Holland or Brad Green to supply the goals.
If Neitz, Miller, Bruce and Moloney are all cleared to play today, the Demons will go into the game with close to a first-choice side, with only Bell and midfielder Phil Read, who has struggled with hamstring injuries all season, missing from their preferred line-up.

Beware the demon inside - AFL - www.smh.com.au
That Neitz, his teammates and coach Neale Daniher will become somewhat more intimately acquainted with the venue for their clash with Sydney tomorrow night is thanks largely to the generosity of a sponsor who put up $5000 so the team could arrive a day early and train at Telstra Stadium today.
More significantly tomorrow, the tall and muscular Neitz poses a big threat to a relatively small Sydney defence that is renowned for its ability to rebound but is still considered vulnerable to the so-called monster forwards.
With predictable modesty, Neitz ascribes his recent good form to the help he is getting from the other tall forwards - particularly former Tiger Ben Holland, Brad Miller and ruckman Jeff White, who has pushed into attack as well as improved service from midfield.
