Reed is an Adjunct Professor at the MIT Media Lab in the Viral Communications group and is one of six principal architects of the Croquet project (along with Alan Kay, Julian Lombardi, Andreas Raab, David A. Smith, and Mark McCahill).
David P. Reed is an American computer scientist, educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, known for a number of significant contributions to computer networking.
He is also known for Reed's law, his assertion that the utility of large networks, particularly social networks, can scale exponentially with the size of the network.

David P. Reed, former chief scientist at Lotus Development Corp. and a self-styled "digitalist," is advancing a provocative answer to that pressing question.
Reed, 48, a self-proclaimed "digitalist" and the former chief scientist at Lotus Development Corp., is on something of a crusade to change how telecom companies and Internet-service providers (ISPs) think about "latency" -- the time that elapses between a network request and the moment when that request is met.
When Reed was a professor at MIT, for instance, the university's computer-systems managers (who ran time-sharing systems for faculty and students) focused on promoting efficient use of their resources.

JOHN REED (deceased) was a son of David Reed, one of the earliest pioneers of Washington county, Penn. David Reed, who was of Scotch-Irish descent, and a native of Lancaster county, Penn., about the year 1777 came with a brother, John, to Washington county.
In 1826 John Reed was married to Jane May, a native of Cecil township, this county, and daughter of John and Phoebe (Ross) May, who were born in Lancaster county, Penn., and after their marriage settled in Cecil township, where they lived and died.
Their children were Alexander (married in Cecil township), David (farmer of Cecil township), Mary (wife of George Murray, Chartiers township), John, James (formerly a jeweler of Washington, afterward living in Pittsburgh, Penn.) and Joseph (deceased in 1888, formerly lived on the old homestead in Cecil township).

 05-20-2004 - Maximum Sentence Handed Down In Neglect Case
David Reed, who has four prior felony and 10 misdemeanor convictions and an alleged drug addiction problem, reportedly obtained a General Education Diploma, reads the Bible regularly, attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and underwent counseling while imprisoned that last 1-1/2 years.
During David Reed’s grandfather’s character witness testimony, Charles Reed spoke of David as a devoted father, saying, “There wasn’t a thing under the sun he wouldn’t do for them (his sons).” Shortly after, Charles Reed made a comment about the oldest boy living with him and his wife for six months.
Reed was sentenced Wednesday for two counts of neglect of a dependent child causing serious bodily injury.
