David Sibeko was assassinated in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania on 12 June 1979.
David Sibeko's contribution to the liberation struggle in South Africa unfortunately is little known.
Sibeko adroitly used his position as the head of the PAC Observer Mission at the United Nations as a way to unite diverse sectors of the international fl community behind the PAC.

 David Maphgumzana Sibeko
David Sibeko was born on 26 August 1938 in Johannesburg.
He was soon elected the chairperson of the PAC in the Vaal River area and became instrumental in the recruitment of new members and the revival of the PAC branches in Sharpeville, Vanderbijpark, Sasolburg and Carltonville.
Sibeko was closely involved with the removal of P.K. Leballo from the PAC leadership in 1979.

After Sharpeville, many members fled into exile, and when Sobukwe died in 1978, he was succeeded by Potlako Leballo.
The PAC then split into two following a partially successful coup by David Sibeko to head the Presidential Leadership Council in 1979.
The assassination of Sibeko in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania on 12 June 1979 and the death of Leballo in January 1986 inaugurated the demise of the PAC.

Former Pan African Congress (PAC) director of Foreign Affairs and representative to the United Nations, David Sibeko, was murdered by a militant stance faction in the PAC.
The death of Sibeko came as a result of increasing hostility between fighting factions within the PAC's newly appointed Central Committee, led by Potlako Leballo, in Tanzania.
This hostility culminated in the assassination of David Sibeko.
