Born in Birmingham, Michigan, Spade is the youngest of Wayne Spade and Judy Todd's three sons.

Spade has also appeared in recent commercials for Capital One, with Nate Torrence where he plays the employee of a fictional rival company whose policy toward honoring credit card rewards is "always no." In 2004, he joined the cast of 8 Simple Rules, following the untimely death of the sitcom's star, John Ritter.

In 2005, Spade created The Showbiz Show with David Spade, which he executive produces, hosts and writes along with pal and former SNL writer Hugh Fink.
The Showbiz Show is a half-hour comedy spoof on Hollywood, a la Spade's famed Saturday Night Live sketch "Hollywood Minute." In 2005, Spade also filmed Sony's Benchwarmers about a trio of guys who try and make up for missed opportunities in childhood by forming a three-player baseball team to compete against standard little league squads.
Spade co-starred with SNL alumnus Chris Farley in the films Tommy Boy and Blacksheep, and the pair won a 1996 MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Duo for the former.

David Spade and Chris Farley, two SNL alums, form a great comedic duo that is reminiscent of Matthau-Lemmon (sounds sacrilegious, but it's true).
Also it has a part where David Spade is spying on some hot skinnydipping chick, which is supposed to be funny I guess, but I just kept wanting to see the girl.
It is a shame that Farley didn't live past the age of 33, because the team of Farley and Spade could have ranked up there historically as one of the great comedy pairings of all-time - and possibly could have become the greatest comedy pairing in recent years.
