	David Horsley - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		David Horsley (March 11, 1873 – February 23, 1933) was English born pioneer of the movie industry who built the first movie studio in Hollywood.
		Horsley received $175,000 in preferred stock and $204,000 in common stock in the new Universal Film Company and was also appointed the company's treasurer.
		His son, David Stanley Horsley (1906-1976), trained as a cinematographer and became an expert in special effects photography, working in the film industry for nearly thirty years.

		After the sale, Kristen Hammer of Sotheby's Latin American Art Department said in an interview that the wonderful portrait may have sold for less because it was not signed.
		Another Marcus masterwork is Lot 8, "Cabeza de Hombre," by David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896-1974," a very powerful and painterly head of a man. The pyroxylin on copper measures 14 1/4 by 12 inches and is dated 1935.
