David Tibet, who at the best of times could pass for the Grim Reaper's stunt double, is the capo de capo of this here thing.
The year was 1984, and what David Tibet was hoping to accomplish with stuff like this is a mystery to me. He had apparently forsaken the hope of making millions to pursue a darkly artsy direction, but I cannot figure out what audience he was hoping to capture.

 BP demo 11-10-2000
David Rice said it is not BP's role to try to influence a change in politics: that is up to governments.
Although I agreed that in one sense this is true, I made it clear that it doesn't ruleout the fact that BP has a responsibility in how they act, since their actions have a political effect, which means they inevitably shoulder a political responsibility, they both nodded their heads in agreement to this.
David Rice went to great lengths at the beginning to stress that BP really is listening to what we have to say and they are not patronising us in any way.

Nurse With Wound & Current 93: Bright Yellow Moon: Pitchfork Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Built by Stapleton and Tibet around lyrics written by the latter while in a hospital, recovering from a near fatal bout with appendicitis (complete, it would seem, with hallucinations of angels of death), Bright Yellow Moon is the first official collaborative record between Nurse With Wound and Current 93.
Tibet is accompanied by a computer-voice (which I can best describe as the British cousin of Conan O'Brian's Pimpbot 5000) repeating the mantra, "Your time is mine." I guess this is Tibet's (perhaps characteristically odd) way of trying to communicate the feelings of helplessness which came with the unexpected onset of a potentially fatal disease.
David strums his guitar, and sings/speaks aimlessly with an admittedly fragile voice about insistent cuckoos, silent children, drowsing poppies, sunny fields, walking like shadows, and lots of other uncharacteristically romantic schlock.

Tibet was joined by John Balance of Coil and Fritz Haaman of 23 Skidoo, and they recorded their first EP "LAShTAL" for Belgium's now-defunct L.A.Y.L.A.H. Anti-Records, a sort of haven for occult-tinged "difficult" music groups coming out of the industrial era, including Coil and the Hafler Trio.
David Tibet and Steven Stapleton chose to celebrate ten years of Current 93 by releasing a two-disc collection of album tracks, singles, rarities, and studio outtakes.
David Tibet released this untitled EP in honor of Current 93's first (and thus far, only) concert appearance in the United States, on Halloween and November 1st, 1996.

 HIGH BIAS -- Current 93
Songwriter David Tibet has been a mainstay of England's underground music scene for a quarter of a century, leading the iconoclastic Current 93.
Tibet often uses little more than an acoustic guitar or piano as backdrop for his spiritual and romantic musings, sometimes illuminated by a horn, accordion or light percussion.
Tibet vocalizes his poetry in a manner closer to a recitation, avoiding choruses or obvious vocal hooks; tracks like "Alone" and "The Inmost Light Itself" (one of the few that does add some samples as spice) sound like direct lines from his stream of consciousness that just happen to conform to melody.

In Virtual Tibet, Schell does a wonderful job of tracing the multifaceted historical events that have tangled the indigenous population of Tibet with the Mongols and the Chinese.
Tibet as something short of Shangri-la. Schell depicts the old Tibet as being a dark, oppressive, and decidedly filthy place.

LONDON October, 2000 -- During a recent meeting between BP and representatives from Tibet Vigil and Free Tibet Campaign, David Rice, Director of BP's Policy Unit for Government and Public Affairs scored an own goal by quoting a striking example in support of the main argument against BP's controversial investment in PetroChina.
Tibet supporters have been strongly urging BP to sell their $580m stake in PetroChina on the grounds that an investment in the State-owned Chinese company inevitably supports all of PetroChina's activities, regardless of BP's claim that they are not involved in the company's new pipeline project to extract gas from Tibet.
Simon Gould, organiser of Tibet Vigil, added the following comments after the meeting: "I hope Tibet supporters are aware that BP and Sinopec are already working together in the joint venture of Yaraco, a company in China manufacturing acetic acid.

Alexandra David-Neel, prolific author, inveterate explorer and traveler, pioneer feminist, and authority on Tibetan Buddhism, was called by Lawrence Durrell, "the most astonishing woman of our time." She was the first European to penetrate Tibet on the level of its learned hermits, nomads, and brigands, and the first foreign woman to enter its forbidden capital.
The result is a vividly detailed chronicle of a heroic woman’s quest to conquer her personal demons and of the journey that made her a celebrated figure.

David Tibet of Current 93 does come up with something strange enough, quite unusual from the dense soundscapes he does with his band, but the very process of making the music specific detracts from the otherworldly quality that Lovecraft cannot even describe in detail in his own story.
And though the properties of film limit the success of its adaptation — if the story can even be adapted in the first place — it is nevertheless a fine mood piece, where the nearly two-hour running time maintains a unity of atmosphere that Poe and even Lovecraft would be quite proud of.
