Daviess County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky.
Daviess County is part of the Western Coal Fields region of Kentucky.
In the county the population was spread out with 25.80% under the age of 18, 9.00% from 18 to 24, 28.40% from 25 to 44, 23.00% from 45 to 64, and 13.80% who were 65 years of age or older.

 Daviess County, Kentucky Genealogical Records Information
Daviess County, the fifty-eighth county in order of formation, was formed from a part of Ohio County on January 14, 1815.
The county's borders were altered in 1829 to form Hancock County, in 1830 to absorb a small area surrounding Whitesville, in 1854 to cede land to McLean County, and in 1860 to annex forty-four square miles from Henderson County.
By 1870 Daviess County was a major producer of corn, tobacco, hogs and cattle, and soybean cultivation was introduced in the 1930s.

The purpose of Daviess County CASA, Inc. shall be to recruit, train and supervise Community volunteers, to be appointed by the Daviess County District Court, to represent the best interests of children who have come into the Daviess County District Court system as a result of abuse, neglect, or dependency.
Daviess County CASA envisions a county where all abused and neglected children have access to a trained, informed and committed adult volunteer who will serve as their advocate and voice in the court system.

Daviess County was the 58th county formed in Kentucky in January of 1815.
At the creation of the county, the enrolling clerk misspelled the "Daveiss," transcribing it as "Daviess." Later the General Assembly passed an act correcting the mistake, but the original spelling remained, and is used today.
Settlers were attracted to the Daviess area for the healthy, well-drained hill country between Pup Creek and Blackford, especially along Indian trails such as the Elizabethtown-Shawneetown, Yelvington, and Iceland Landing trails.

The United States Department of Justice (Department) initiated this matter as a compliance review of Daviess County, Kentucky Public Library District (Library) under title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), 42 U.S.C. §§ 12131-12134, and the Department’s implementing regulation, 28 C.F.R. Part 35.
The Department is authorized under 28 C.F.R. Part 35, Subpart F, to determine the compliance of the Library with title II of the ADA and the Department's title II implementing regulation, to issue findings, and, where appropriate, to negotiate and secure voluntary compliance agreements.
Furthermore, the Attorney General is authorized, under 42 U.S.C. § 12133, to bring a civil action enforcing title II of the ADA should the Department fail to secure voluntary compliance pursuant to Subpart F. The parties to this Agreement are the United States of America and the Daviess County Public Library District.
