 James T. Davis Story
Davis Station was originally the home of the 3d Radio Research Unit which, in fact, was a cover organization for the headquarters of the Army Security Agency in Vietnam.
Davis leaped from the cab of the truck to rally the ARVN forces.
Davis and the ARVN's were half of a team who would find enemy radio transmission locations by tuning in the same frequency from two different geographical points.

TCS: Tech Central Station - Gray Davis' Texas-Sized Lies
Davis counted on the fact that the "journalists" on the West Coast are much more respectful of power in Democrat hands than their colleagues on the East Coast.
Davis led the entire Democratic Party off into combat with "greedy power generators from Texas," even as he knew that it was all a lie.
Perhaps Davis can't tell the difference between a Mountie and a Texas cowboy, but the combined talent of all of California's newspapers ought to have been able to spot the mountebank in the Governor's office.

 Chicago ''L''.org: Stations - Davis
The new Davis station, completed in 1994, with its distinctive clock towers (an identical one is on the west side as well) and European stylings (see bottom photo), looking south on Benson Avenue in June 2001.
A stone marker was erected in 1947 by the Evanston Historical Society on the site of the original station, listing all of the stations the St. Paul RR served south the Davis (but curiously omitting Evanston stations north of Calvary).
Looking southwest on August 13, 2003 from the "L" station entrance, we see the drop-off area and taxi stand with some modifications from its original design, including the addition of a subterranean garage entrance for newly-built 808 Davis Building in the center of the turnaround.

TCS: Tech Central Station - The Davis 'e'call
Davis is finding that out as the technology he championed -- and defended against taxation and other burdens -- is being harnessed in an effort to remove him from office.
What would have only recently seemed "the impossible" to Davis -- that he would be the first governor in the United States in three generations recalled from office -- has very quickly become a distinct possibility.
But no matter what happens with the recall effort, Davis is probably rethinking his enthusiasm for the Internet as a political tool, even if he was right.

 The Davis Enterprise
A group of Davis residents is launching a community radio station, aiming to strengthen the voice of local issues and the independent media, and expand upon the services offered by Davis Community Television.
The station, which will be audible throughout Davis and possibly in Dixon and Woodland, no doubt will launch amid fanfare, beginning with the showing this week of a documentary on low-power radio.
Radio stations are being consolidated, and "if we want to continue to uphold democratic processes and have a functioning democracy, people need to have access to diverse ideas and experiences in order to take part in decisions that affect them and their communities," she said.

Governor tests campaign message in north state trip
Davis, in an interview with a Sacramento radio station, said he supported an attempt by Schwarzenegger to take away the Legislature's power to draw legislative and congressional districts and turn that duty over to a panel of retired judges.
But Davis said he opposed the measure's requirement that the ex-judges attempt to redraw the districts in time for the 2006 elections instead of waiting for the next census in 2010.
Davis also issued a statement saying he opposed the two other Schwarzenegger proposals, which would place new restrictions on state spending and extend the probation period for new teachers.

Although the contractor reduction initiative was generally viewed as a positive step by Station employees, some individuals expressed concern that the lack of training and development of Station personnel to perform tasks previously assigned to contractors, coupled with a lack of resources allocated to replace the lost personnel, could result in future performance problems.
Efforts to improve future performance by learning from the Station’s past performance, from others’ performance, and from the day-to-day implementation of the organization’s programs and processes, are not systematic or recognized to be of high value for the organization.
This negative perception existed among previous Senior Management at the Station, it is still perceived to exist by Station personnel, and it continues to be communicated, either intentionally or unintentionally, to the organization.

 TrainDepot
Why: The first train station was built because the five directors of the California Pacific Railroad Company had a land selling company but they needed an attraction for more customers so they built the train station on part of the old Davis family farm.
This summer, the City of Davis is planning to improve the area by adding parking spaces in the old "hobo" town, building more bike paths and moving the entrance back to the historic depot entrance, and some other things.
How: The SP Depot is an important part of Davis’ history because if it weren’t for the railroad, Davis would have been just a big strip of land with a lot of farms.

 Notes from Davis Station
Here at Davis we have only 17 people on station for the winter, and most of us play international darts on Friday nights.
The buildings on the left side of the base are the original Davis huts built in the 1960's, most of these are no longer used as they have been replaced by the larger buildings to the right of the photo.
The game is called 501 and although we don't win very often we all have a great time.

Davis Square History & Area Information
The streetscape improvements surrounding the Davis Square Station were designed to enhance the pedestrian access to the station and local businesses, and to slow traffic, while giving the commercial area a more coherent appearance.
Goody Clancy’s project architect was a resident of Davis Square himself and worked closely with local citizens to integrate the station buildings into the existing fabric with as little disruption as possible.
That same year, the Davis Square Task Force was formed, composed of local business owners, residents and local officials, to act as a citizens’ advisory committee regarding the revitalization plans and to address a major concern that was dividing the community on the type and extent of development.

 Introducing Camp Davis: Station Complement
Branches of the Army represented in the Station Complement at Camp Davis include the Quartermaster Corps; the Signal Corps; the Medical Corps; the Engineer Corps; the Corps of Military Police; the Adjutant General's Branch; the Ordnance Department and smaller detachments of other military services.
he term station complement is not only at time a bit confusing to the civilian visitor who is uninitiated, but often so to more or less inexperienced members of the military establishment.
In a few words, therefore, the Station Complement is the permanently assigned troops of various branches of the Army Service Forces who provide the "housekeeping" facilities of the camp.

Davis & Davis - SF Station Event Listing
In typical Davis and Davis fashion, the artists have wielded their dark and playful wit to produce images that depict dolls in the act of a special “talent” and#8213; such as an Octopus juggling in Octo #1 and #2 and#8213; or a Keene-eyed doll incessantly spinning a globe ornament in Whirly Girl.
Here, Davis and Davis have brilliantly unearthed the insidiousness of childhood competitions that rely not on team efforts, but rather on the performance of individual “tricks” encouraged and persuaded by demanding parents.
It is the contradictory nature of “innocence and transgression inherent in a toy, and in the everyday lives of their owners, that motivate Davis and Davis to create alarming but seductive images,” writes Tyler Stallings, Curator of Contemporary Art at The Laguna Art Museum, in his essay for Childish Things.
