Descendants of those buried in the 10th Line Methodist Episcopal Cemetery in the Township of West Gwillimbury are extremely disturbed by the actions of a neighbouring farmer who has removed the fence surrounding this burial ground which dates to c1828.
In July 2003 the remains of early settlers who died and were buried between 1825 and 1860 in the Point Alexander area of Rolph Township were accidentally discovered when alterations were being made to a private residence.
This cemetery is the oldest in the former Pickering Township and is the burial ground of the founding Quaker families who settled in the area with Timothy Rogers in 1807.

Dawn-Euphemia Township Chief Leonard McMurphy says most volunteer firefighters are full-time farmers and says if they have to take non-farm jobs, they may not respond as quickly.
He says if too many volunteers leave the farms to take city jobs, fire response times could be dangerously extended.
